About the Author

Since 1988, Dr. Weiss practiced internal medicine at Mayo-Eau Claire—until June 12, 2021, when Mayo fired him for writing this book.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School, he‘s served on the board of directors of numerous community organizations, including local chapters of the United Way, the American Cancer Society, and the YMCA. He’s been a director for the Western Wisconsin Epilepsy Society, the Eau Claire City-County Visiting Nurse Association, and the Bolton Refuge House domestic violence shelter, serving three years as its president. Dr. Weiss has volunteered at the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic since its 1997 opening. He joined the board in 2001 and currently serves as president. Since 1989, Dr. Weiss has taught students from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
He enjoys reading and writing, travel and outdoor activities, including kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding, and cross country skiing. He’s very proud of his three grown children—Daniel, Nikki, and Erik—who he loves very much. He lives in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
